COLD SPRING — Ryan Bell hit a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a tie and give the Cold Spring Rockies the lead for good.

The Rockies beat St. Augusta 9-7 Tuesday night in a Central Valley League playoff game.

Bell, Rick Burtzel, Paul Schreiner, Reed (Gabe) Pfannenstein and Mike Holbrook all had two hits for Cold Spring. Chris Lardy went the distance to get the win, despite allowing 11 hits.

The Rockies clinched a Region 11C Tournament berth with the win and will face Watkins in a seeding game at 1 p.m. Saturday in Watkins.

St. Augusta will play Raymond in an 11C play-in game at 4 p.m. Saturday in Watkins.

Aaron Fruth got the loss in relief and hit a solo home run for St. Augusta. Marcus Lommel, Adam Gwost and David Fritz all had two hits each for the Gussies.

St. Augusta fought back to erase two three-run deficits and took a 7-6 lead into the seventh inning, but Cold Spring scored three unanswered.
