WATKINS — The Cold Spring Rockies defeated Luxemburg 5-2 to advance to the Class C state amateur baseball tournament on Sunday afternoon.

It will be the first appearance at the state tournament for Cold Spring since 2008.

The Rockies were led by Calvin Kalthoff, who was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored.

Kevin Wenner was also 2-for-5 for Cold Spring.

The Rockies (16-10) were also highlighted by Dylan TeBrake and Marshal Wirtzfeld, who were both 2-for-4.

Ryan Hennen pitched a complete game while allowing five hits to earn the win.

For the Brewers, Chase Aleshire was 2-for-4.

Cold Spring will play Watkins in a seeding game at 8 p.m. Friday in Watkins.
