Amateur baseball roundup: Nyhagen, Hawks trip up Rockies
COLD SPRING – Right-hander Scott Nyhagen tossed a complete game to lead the Eden Valley Hawks to a 4-2 victory over the Cold Spring Rockies on Sunday in a Central Valley League game.
Nyhagen struck out three, walked two and scattered six hits. He allowed one earned run.
Joe Thiel went 3-for-4 for the Hawks, who scored all four runs in the second inning.
For Cold Spring (2-3 CVL, 3-3 overall), Cole (Paul) Schreiner had an RBI single in the Rockies’ two-run second. Mike Heinen went five innings and took the loss.
Rick Burtzel pitched the final four innings, allowing no hits and facing the minimum 12 batters.
